Understanding the business objective and project scope.

The Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC) at The University of Strathclyde aims to be an internationally leading hub for technological knowledge exchange, with renewable energy at its heart.

A brand was required to launch and promote this new initiative. The objective was to engage industry, encourage investment, promote collaboration, build international profile and demonstrate economic and commercial viability.

How did we help?

Tsuko followed its own process of distilling the most compelling attributes of this world-class initiative to create a brand and creative brief. Design research evaluated routes that could be explored to express the personality of the new brand.

It was determined that the brand should feel active, progressive, accessible, collaborative, confident and international. It should communicate technical and innovative expertise, feel connected and real, and be rooted in renewable energy.

Making it happen.

Tsuko developed a range of initial concepts. The chosen logotype is built from hand crafted typographic character. The angular, dynamic feel sets the tone for this transformational initiative.

A vibrant graphic 'wave' component was developed to accompany the identity, borne out of an element of the University of Strathclyde crest. The University Faculty colour palette is used to express a strong visual relationship.

A media brochure has been designed to launch the initiative and architectural development to various stakeholders.
